Service Dogs and Veteran Suicide Prevention

We talk about how service dogs can help prevent veteran suicide on other pages here on the website.   We would like to introduce you to “Woody,” named after PFC Donald Charles Wood who was killed in action with the 173rd Airborne Brigade near LZ Pony on May 20, 1968.

Today, 4/12/2023, Woody is 8 weeks old and is beginning his two-year service dog training with a partner veteran charity.  After graduating from the program, he will be assigned to a disabled veteran and will play a pivotal role in improving – and perhaps saving – a veteran’s life.  This page will chronicle Woody’s journey as he prepares to serve a veteran who bravely served our country.

We currently have a campaign underway to raise $20,000 to cover the first year of Woody’s training.  Click the button below to make a donation.  No amount is too small.  If you like, we will add your name to the honor roll of donors.
